National Chapter, Jacksonville, and North Carolina all joined Baltimore and held their own chapter fundraiser while playing along with GBAAZK. The 2013 most popular animal is the Okapi! The overall winner with the most correct bracket was Baltimore's Paula Blair. Dan Dembiec, Erica Pytlovancy, and Gisela Wiggins all placed top within their chapters. Thanks to all for their participation this year!

GBAAZK held a Penny Jar Competition during the month of April. The 8 areas within the MZiB Animal Department were given the chance to get rid of all their spare change and put it towards a good cause. Teams filled their jars with pennies for positive points, and opposing teams added all other coins and bills for negative points. After 4 weeks, the Embassy Team took the win in the final week. The Embassy received a custom made cupcake cake for their win. The total amount raised was $140.30, and we thank everyone for their support!

April 2012
GBAAZK added a zoological twist to everyone's favorite basketball tournament this year and for the first time celebrated April Ani-MADNESS. This animal bracket-challenge pitted 32 amazing animal species from 4 global regions together to face off. Participants voted to determine which animal was the coolest and most unique. In the end it was a battle of the mustelids (the weasel family) as the Honey Badger defeated the Giant Otter by popular vote and was deemed the coolest and most unique animal of 2012! With 34 participants, GBAAZK raised $170.00 with our Ani-Madness fundraiser.
